A Family School
Eden Primary, is a caring and nurturing school and is situated close to the village of Bendooragh, just outside Ballymoney. Transport to and from school is not a problem as many of our pupils travel on the Ulsterbus service. Visitors to our school have often commented that they are impressed by the caring, family atmosphere evident, as well as the attractive, stimulating learning environment that our children and staff work in.
All children challenged to fulfil their potential
Our pupils, teachers and classroom assistants, as well as other non-teaching staff, are very proud of our high standards in school work, behaviour and attendance. We were encouraged by our recent E.T.I. report that confirmed our opinion. Their report stated that;
“The children are well motivated and co-operative. They have positive attitudes to and engage purposefully in their learning.”
Their report also acknowledged that our school has;
“Sustained high standards in literacy and numeracy, as evidenced by the children’s responses to and engagement with their learning and by the school’s internal data.”
In order to achieve this success, we have well-resourced classrooms, all having access to interactive whiteboards and our small classes have a classroom assistant in each room to support learning and teaching. Our teachers ensure that all learning opportunities are differentiated and appropriately structured to motivate and meet the needs of all our children. We ensure that Special Educational Needs and Pastoral Care issues are dealt with in a sensitive manner with interventions tailored to meet an individual’s need and implemented after consultation with parents.
We take great pride in finding out about our past pupil successes. In recent years Eden can boast that many of our past pupils have become Head boy/girl, Deputy Head boy/girl at their chosen post primary school. Likewise we find wonderful satisfaction upon hearing about many past pupils who have successfully completed their education and secured good careers. We recognise the crucial role that we have as primary educators to provide the motivation and necessary skills for children to achieve this type of future success, enabling our children to confidently play their part in society.
Our extensive extra-curricular programme allows our pupils to develop new skills that in turn builds confidence for them to succeed. Our annual senior residential trip is attended by the vast majority of our children. This safe, planned, yet challenging environment provides the perfect opportunity for young people to develop their independence.
Many of our pupils have the opportunity to represent school in many inter-school or community events. Our school sports’ teams and school choir have been very successful in recent years and our violin tuition programme has allowed our pupils to enter and gain qualifications in public examinations. All of this, in turn, has provided a springboard for some of our pupils to pursue their chosen skill outside of school. Currently, two of our senior girls have been selected to train weekly with the Northern Ireland ladies’ football squad. We are very proud of all our children’s achievements.
Our afterschool programme is popular, provision is available for all children Monday-Thursday until 4pm and 3pm on a Friday, with a variety of fun activities on offer for our children to enjoy.
“Eden heart of the community in a community with a heart.”
Our parents and pupils have built up a reputation for themselves for their generosity. Over the past number of years we have raised thousands of pounds for charities at home and abroad. Through this we encourage our pupils to think of others, creating an awareness of the world around us for them.
Our pupils have shared community and cross community links with other schools in order to provide the richest quality of education were children can learn from one another. Much of these links have been facilitated through cutting edge ICT resources as well as grant funding that we have successfully sourced.
Our thriving P.T.F.A. continue to organise fun, social events and raise money to buy extra resources that enrich the educational experiences of all our children.
